The cultivation methods in this region are largely traditional and do not require the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The coffee producers are small farmers who grow their coffee in so-called „Coffee Gardens“ in mixed cultivation with other crops.
The ripe coffee cherries are harvested by hand and transported to the washing station. There the intact coffee cherries are dried in the sun for about 21 days and only then are the pulp removed. The drying of the intact coffee cherry provides the special taste of unwashed coffee.
